Hey all, Corinne, Haleigh and Meaghan back at it. So, here we are at that super awkward phase of the year where the last of the snow has come and gone, and we’re now faced with spring and summer. As plus size women, these seasons often garner a lot of anxiety and outfit dilemmas, and rightly so; they involve showing off a lot of skin, and unless that’s something you’re comfortable with it can be a very difficult process picking out your outfits!

But fear not; here we come to help you choose an outfit that’s perfect for your comfort level during this fest season…. but with a twist. Frankly, we’re over the whole ‘flower-crowns-and-fringe’ festival looks and so we’re taking it to a very dark place; Summer Goth, here we come. We’ve split up this series into two posts, Festival looks and Afterparty looks. A little look for day, a lot of look for night. Read on to see each of our tips and outfit picks for any body type!!

Haleigh’s Festival Look:

HALEIGHCASUAL7

Haleigh is all about wearing black, all the time. Indeed, her clothing rack is basically monochromatic. Her style usually skews towards more traditional Victorian witch, but for festival she wanted to rock a more Concho-heavy, utilitarian look.

HALEIGHCASUAL5

Rompers are super easy for summer and spring; you can throw them on and go without worrying about much else. Plus, if you’re going somewhere for Fest season that means less packing!

HALEIGHCASUAL4

On her feet she’s chosen some cowboy boots with a Concho strap for both style and comfort; if you wanna stomp around the dusty fields, you better dress the part. These are rad because they have a wide opening and slouchy finish for wider calves.

HALEIGHCASUAL3

Rompers can sometimes make fat babes feel uncomfortable and rounder in the middle, but this tie front really accentuates the waist. If yours doesn’t come with a tie, make one out of a scarf!

HALEIGHCASUAL2

Concho deets and a peek of lace bring this look back to updated-goth. Plus, if it gets too hot you can unbutton the top; perfect for lettin’ the girls get some air.

HALEIGHCASUAL1

As far as makeup goes, Haleigh fully embraces her natural beauty with minimal makeup and full brows. Mascara, matte lip stain and she’s out the door.

Corinne’s Festival Look:

CORICASUAL5

Corinne has bright pink hair (hello, obviously) and her aesthetic tends more towards the pastel and vibrant. She really likes layering in weird ways, so when she found this cutout blouse and bralette she knew it was meant to be. You can rock the same look with any cutout blouse or a super low-cut tank!

CORICASUAL3

Corinne really loves anything high waisted, and this maxi skirt is no exception. She usually doesn’t rock wovens, as she prefers more stretchy fabric, but the button-up front on this skirt makes it the perfect piece for festival goers; button up when it’s cold (or if you want to cover more skin!) and unbutton when you wanna twirl around in a field or something.

CORICASUAL4

Nothing is better for festival season than a big smile, tbh. Corinne’s never so happy as when she’s dancing so this is kind of her scene. If you’re also into dancing around under the sun in a bralette, make sure you’re using waterproof SPF; these tan lines would be fun to explain.

CORICASUAL6

Truly everyone at GW is an advocate for wearing a crop top no matter your size; they’re just too easy and fun, and breezy in the summer. But if you feel self conscious about your tummy, or just want to rock a more vintage silhouette, wear your crop top with a high waisted bottom.

CORICASUAL1

Corinne favors the classics for festival; she literally wears her Docs everywhere, so a muddy field is no exception.

COCOCASUAL1

Lastly, don’t forget your face; festival season is all about fun looks, so Corinne slicked on a purple waterproof matte lip. A fun, non-appropriative update to the overdone Bindi look is a fun, pastel jewel under the eyes… or switch it up with glitter!

Meaghan’s Festival Look:

MEGCASUAL1

Of all these featured looks, Meaghan’s is the most easy to layer up and change on the go. A sheer dress over shorts and a crop tank is super easy to switch up if need be!

MEGCASUAL6

Meg tied the graphic tank in the front to accentuate her natural waist, and to show off her, ahem, assets in a way she felt comfortable with.

MEGCASUAL3

On her feet she chose a pair of creepers; Meg is a bit on the shorter side, so any height she can add to her frame helps her see the band better… Plus they’re just hella cute, and super durable! Pro tip: replace the laces with ribbons sprayed with hairspray for a bow that will last all damn day.

MEGCASUAL2

It’s super easy to make this look even more covered up… or less so! Meg doesn’t often show much skin so the peek of leg through the sheer dress is a perfect choice for her. If you wanted to go even more covered up, all you’d have to do is throw on some tights or leggings! You can even chuck some in your bag and change when it gets colder at night. Wanna bare more skin? Rock a cute bralette under the dress and just nix the tank!

MEGCASUAL4

Tattooed like Meg? Remember to slather on that SPF since tattoos attract more sunlight!

MEGCASUAL5

As far as makeup goes, Meg keeps it super glam for day just because why the fuck not? Her pale skin basically dictates either hiding under a tree all day or wearing SPF, so make sure your foundation also has coverage in it. And, if you’re bold like she is, an undercut is a rad way to feel the breeze and keep yr silky doll locks at the same time!

That wraps it up for our daytime looks! Stay tuned for our next post in the series about our Afterparty looks; a little more formal, a lot more daring, and Summer Goth to the extreme.
