Happy 12 days to Halloween, spooky ghouls!
We’ve seen your spooky fashion; now it’s time to get some major inspo from the best babes in Horror! We’ve rounded up our top ten fashionable dames from the creepy cult movies we love, and believe us- their fashion is to die for.
10. LYDIA DEETZ from BEETLEJUICE
Hello, obviously. Our fave purveyor of dark quotes and black lace get-ups, Lydia Deetz is the bizarre and wonderful photographer and interest of Beetlejuice. Into channeling her beyond-the-grave spookiness? Simple. Black, black, black. Don’t forget a big-ass hat, and a camera (this one you can fill with booze, so it’s a win-win).
9. CARRIE WHITE from CARRIE
Poor, poor Carrie White. The tragically unpopular star gets major points for her prom night fashion choices; and her major pyrokinesis. Set your costume ablaze with a fun nod to her fiery personality, a virginal cross and a light colored prom dress… all the better to show off the blood with.
8. BABY FIREFLY from HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES & THE DEVILS REJECTS
Also known as Sheri-Moon Zombie, the babely IRL wife of Rob Zombie. White-trash death-princess is the name of the game with this horror movie vet. Get the dirty, dirty look with flared bells, a cropped tank top, and don’t forget some sort of glasses.
7. WEDNESDAY ADDAMS from THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Our love for Wednesday Addams stems far beyond her brooding fashion choices and signature braids; we truly feel her on her deadpan personality and disdain for, well, most things. This Disturbia dress was basically named for her; just add a pair of clunky, old-school-looking creepers and some vintage-seamed tights. Braid your pigtails and done.
6. JEAN from AMERICAN PSYCHO
Ah, Jean. Beloved secretary to mass-murderer and insane psychopath Patrick Bateman, Jean is a serious businesswoman interested in only one thing- Patrick’s mental well-being. Her power-bitch outfit vibes are complemented with shoulder pads, a classic 80’s trench, and a simple, geometric statement necklace.
5. JENNIFER CHECK from JENNIFER’S BODY
Seriously hot mega-babe Jennifer Check (as played by Megan Fox) gets transformed into a pink-wearing, bloodsucking vampire creature, thirsty for the blood of fuckboys everywhere. It’s no wonder this late 2000’s fave is on our list. Low-rise jeans? Pink terrycloth hoodies?! Um, yes. Channel your inner girlie-girl-gone-cuckoo for this one. Like, OMG.
4. SUZY BANNION from SUSPIRIA
For those unfamiliar with this retro art horror masterpiece by director Dario Argento, the story centers around Suzy, a ballet dancer whose new German dance academy ends up being far more spooky than she ever dreamed. Bright neon colors and a bitchin’ prog-rock soundtrack, coupled with 70’s fashion choices, are basically our dream (or nightmare?) come true.
3. SALLY AND GILLIAN from PRACTICAL MAGIC
Two fashion icons for the place of one! Nothing says Halloween to us like re-watching this 90’s fave, a witchy love story set against a fabulous New England backdrop. Whether you identify more as good-girl Sally or wild-child Gillian, their choices of soft textures and 90’s neutral color palettes are downright enchanting.
2. ROSEMARY from ROSEMARY’S BABY
Creator of not only demon spawn but many iconic fashion choices. Pixie haircuts, pastels and muted tones, exaggerated shapes- oh, and a knife. Obviously, it’s a must-have accessory for any mother-of-Satan. Channel this silver screen movie queen with 60’s silhouettes and a knife of your very own.
1. THE COVEN from THE CRAFT
This should really go without saying. The Craft is, as always, one of our favorite movies of all time- but especially so in October. With every character embracing the dark, soft-goth look so popular with alt girls throughout the 90’s, we’ve got so many choices for this we basically can’t decide, although black lace-ups and a creepy necklace are true, 90’s alt necessities. Don’t forget your wildflower smudge wand. And make sure to check out our latest Curvy Warrior post for even more Craft-inspired fashion choices!
Whatever your horror movie of choice, we hope you get majorly inspired… for Halloween and beyond!
Until tomorrow, Gypsy Warriors!
xx
